British Prime Minister David Cameron phoned Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss international efforts to find a political solution in Syria. Mr. Cameron briefed Mr. Putin on his recent contacts with US President Barack Obama and the main outlines of discussions on the Syrian crisis.
According to a British spokesperson, "they agreed that that the US, Russia and UK clearly share the same aim: to find a resolution to the conflict that ends the killing and prevents violent extremism taking hold, with a transitional government with full executive powers, established with the consent of both sides, that preserves the integrity of the Syrian state and its institutions."
In-depth discussions shall be held at the G8 summit in Northern Ireland in June.
