"Iran remains the single-most significant regional threat to stability and prosperity," the commander of US Central Command (CENTCOM) and Marine Corps Gen. James N. Mattis said in testimony before the Senate Armed Services Committee. "Reckless behavior and bellicose rhetoric characterize a leadership that cannot win the affection of its own people or the respect of any responsible nation in the region," the Defense official added. Reminding the failed attempt to kill the Saudi Ambassador in Washington DC, Gen. Mattis explained that Iran keeps running clandestine activities across the world. In addition, it has developed cyber capacities which could prove a real threat to United States' infrastructure. He also depicted the situation as "highly complex" and said plans for military option are "fully developed."
