On July 9, a Chinese delegation, headed by Vice Premier of the State Council Wang Yang and State Councilor Yang Jiechi, the special representatives of Chinese President Xi Jinping, arrived in Washington, D.C. They attended the 5th Round of China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue (S&ED) from July 10 to 11.
The two sides have had extensive discussions on implementing the achievements of China-US Presidential Meeting at Annenberg Retreat in June and on further expanding coordination and cooperation in all fields of bilateral relations and in major global and regional issues, said the Chinese government.
"The Strategic and Economic Dialogue, as our two Presidents have made clear, is critical to generating practical cooperation on issues across our relationship and a place where we can make real progress," said US Treasury Secretary Jack Lew. Ahead of the SE&D, the two countries also discussed "the thorny issue of cyber security," now at the top of the bilateral agenda.
