President of the Republic of Serbia Tomislav Nikolic met today in Belgrade with Head of Mision EULEX Kosovo, Bernd Borchardt.
On that occasion, President Nikolic expressed the determination of the Serbian top leadership to arrive with the representatives of the provisional institutions in Pristina at a negotiated lasting and just solution to the problem of the southern Serbian province. President of the Republic stressed that the negotiations were difficult because the laws passed by the provisional institutions in Pristina were taken as a matter of course, but in order to solve the issue of Kosovo and Metohija, it is necessary to demonstrate willingness to change these laws, in the same way as Serbia was ready to adopt the new laws. President Nikolic also added that the community of Serbian municipalities in Kosovo and Metohija would replace the parallel institutions of Serbs living in this southern Serbian province.
Head of EULEX Mission, Mr. Borchardt, has underlined that the Mission is status neutral and its aim is to establish a rule-of law society in Kosovo and Metohija. He added that they were guided by the principle of helping everyone, but they required cooperation to achieve that end.
President of the Republic of Serbia pointed out that Serbia needed the EULEX Mission and offered EULEX its full cooperation
