The President of the Republic, Bujar Nishani received today and held a meeting with the National Defense Minister of Turkey, Dr. Ismet Yilmaz, who is officially visiting our country invited by his homologue, Mr. Arben Imami.
Appreciating, the traditional and historical friendship, solidarity and partnership between two countries, President Nishani and Minister Yilmaz stated that Albania and Turkey are strategic partners and the cooperation between them in all fields, especially in the field of defense could be considered a model by the NATO member countries and all the countries that aspire for peace, security and stability.
Minister Yilmaz expressed his praises about Albania’s overall progress in the path of reforms and singled out the Albania’s Army Force as being fully integrated in NATO.
The Turkish Minister while stating that the Balkans would be quiet when all its countries would live in harmony with one another, pointed out Albania as a powerful factor for the stability in the region.
President Nishani after expressing the gratitude for Turkey’s overall support, especially to the accession of Albania in NATO, pointed out that Turkey has its role in the contribution provided by Albania and its Armed Forces to NATO.
The Head of State guarantied that Albania will continued to play its role serving peace and stability in the region, while expressing his conviction that this is the best service of our country for NATO, Balkans and Europe.
The two interlocutors shared the same opinion that Kosova is proving to be an important factor for the Balkans peace and that Albania and Turkey must urge the further recognitions of Kosova’ state and to work so Kosova can take its place in the international community.
