Following a lengthy procedure launched in December 2009 by the European Union along side its partners Mexico and the U.S., the World Trade Organization (WTO) released its final ruling regarding China’s export restrictions of raw materials this week. The result of an appeal by China, this ruling confirmed the findings made by the WTO panel back in July of 2011. The July ruling decided that China’s export restrictions based on environmental protection and conservation policies are unjustified, in violation of WTO regulations, and resulted in distortions and uncertainties in the world...
