Romanian Prime Minister Emil Boc resigned from office this week to defuse the political and social situation in the country, which he sees as a threat to its economic stability. Back in October 2011, Boc declared 2012 will become a banner year for Romania’s economic situation. He placed some blame for Romania’s economic crisis on the influx of investment in Romania following EU integration which acted as an impetus to consume more than it produced, a situation Romania’s still fragile economy was unprepared to handle.
